An officer's blackened silver plated Victorian helmet plate for the 1878 pattern helmet. This pattern of castle also noted on a similar quality officer's helmet plate to the 3rd VB of the Suffolks. Black velvet backing in good order. This plate has three screw posts and they look like the original fittings. Worn 1887 - 1902.

A stunning example with two original dark toned lugs to the reverse. Of two part construction, joined with a large tab behind the QVC crown, presumably to give the badge more strength. The Lancashire Rose and title scroll surmounted by the Royal Crest. An absolute stunner in great condition. This pattern worn by Volunteer Battalion officers from 1887 until 1902.
