Queens Own Hussars (QOH) NCOs Chromed Arm Badge

Queens Own Hussars (QOH) NCOs Chromed Arm Badge

A light allow metal chromed example with three original blades to the reverse (folded over), but in unissued / mint condition. It would have been worn on a Garter blue backing cloth, the blades pushed through this and then the badge backing sewn to the uniform sleeve to avoid holing the sleeve. The QEII version was introduced in the late 1960s. Worn until amalgamation in 1993.

The central figure seems to be a foreign soldier, highly decorated. Most unusual and an interesting story here no doubt, now lost in time. Postally unused. Light staining to reverse otherwise in very good condition.

WW1 German Postcard shoing a U-Boot / U Boat bringing a captured merchant ship into harbour

Whether this was an actual event or propaganda to put the U Boot arm in a better light, I cannot say, but the truth was much likely that it was sunk at sea. In World War I, U-boats initially followed "prize rules," surfacing to stop merchant ships, inspect them, and evacuate crews ...  read more
