55th Regiment of Foot Officers Large Pattern Gilt Button, 1855 - 1881
Circa 24mm in diameter, fixed shank, maker marked POW feathers and Jennens & Co, London. Gilt bright, in tip top condition. From 1881, the 55th were redesignated as the 2nd Battalion, the Border Regiment.

Finely cast example. Within a crowned horseshoe scroll inscribed “C.N. Regt.”; a Cobra with its body encircling the ends of the scroll. The cobra appears to be a contrasting colour. With two original lugs to the reverse. Circa 4cm tall and 3cm wide. Worn circa 1917 - 1947 (Cox No 2722 refers).

Good matched pair, two original lugs to the reverse, each with a JR Gaunt London tablet on the reverse. One tablet has verdigris on it. These are a better colour match than the picture suggests.

Victorian Durham Light Infantry Volunteer / Militia Battalion Silver Plated Officers Collar Badge
Left facing bugle, die struck, silver plated (unmarked) with two original dark toned lugs to the reverse. Circa 2.8cm wide and 2.8cm tall. Some twisting to lugs but otherwise in very good condition with sharp detail. Worn by VB DLI officers, but also alleged to have been worn by Durham Militia Battalion officers by a noted DLI collector. Scarce.
