Attractively engraved to the reverse with the grenade and emblem of the Northumberland Fusiliers, St George slaying the dragon. Front of disc is engraved ( the engraving covers a hallmark for 1913 ). 4th Durham Rifle Volunteers Other Ranks Helmet , circa 1880 - 1887

A scarce maltese cross pattern blackened helmet plate with three original lugs to the reverse. Would have been worn with a red velvet backing cloth. In very good condition, only obvious defect being a slight twisting to one edge of the cross arm on the left closest to crown (see final photo), but now I am being picky! Scarce.
