Two medals correctly impressed to Margaret Sorrell:
a) British War Medal, 1914 - 1918
b) Mercantile Marine War Medal, 1914 - 1918.

It is rare to find this medal to a woman, although I have heard it said that a number of women were used to 'man' the cross channel ferries. It is rarer still to find the medals together as pair.

Not sure which is harder to find, one of these cap badges or hen's teeth. In great original condition, some signs of wear. Circa 6.5cm tall and 4cm wide at crown. Some minor wear to red felt on left of crown, but otherwise in very good condition for age. This particular version does not have any coloured jewels mounted on rim of crown.

Full sized silver issue (circa 16,000 were struck). Unnamed as issued in box of issue (in damaged but repairable condition). The box is post-box red card with a lion atop of a King's crown in black and the words "Coronation Medal" above in capitals and below the date "1911". Heavy die struck NCO's arm badge as worn on the right shoulder, with three original lugs to reverse and a piece of Indian cloth which has been used as a backing cloth, as acquired. This is a lovely item and in good unpolished condition. Circa 5cm tall and 5.1cm wide. Very scarce.

Royal Naval Training Ship Merit Medal in unmarked silver. Reverse is engraved in slanting capitals "E.HILL". Original Ribbon of pale cream colour with a thin naval blue border down either side with a suspension ring sewn into the top. GVF and 30mm in diameter.
