A dark toned brass die struck badge with two long original loops (bent upwards but functional) and not a slider (as found on copies). A scarce genuine example of this much copied badge. Note the upright "budgie", the short sturdy claw on each owl as it clutches the shield, a proper looking sheep rather than a thin looking dog like creature seen on the copies. A very rare badge made by Beewyse London, a maker most often associated with Middle East badges. I have seen a Wessex Brigade Staybrite of their manufacture, but only one example and never of any other British Army Badge until encountering this one. Pre 1903 cast pattern for extra strength with correctly mounted King's crown and original slider. Single braising / sweat hole behind the PoW feathers. This version with all brass pennons to the lances (usually found with a white metal / silver overlay). In good overall condition.
