1st/7th Gurkha Rifles - Dashera Invitation Card to Headcutting of Buffaloes and Goats Sacrificial Ceremony, 1949

A scarce and revealing invitation for those who were unaware of this Gurkha custom, a bit gruesome, but tradition is tradition! Subedar Major Rukman Limbu was awarded the MBE in 1954. A copy of his recommendation for this Honour will be included with the card. The card is in good condition for age and not something you come across every day!

This locally made designation badge flash was worn by only a handful of military staff on the DPM military uniform in Pokhara and on the 'blue uniform' of the Gurkha Civil Guard Staff, the MT staff in Pokhara and at the HQ in Kathmandu. 10th Princess Marys Own Gurkha Rifles Pipers plaid brooch circa 1953-60

A good scarce die-cast locally made silvered example. Circlet “GURKHA RIFLES”, to the voided centre a strung bugle with kukri, Princess Mary’s Cypher and “10” between the strings. Stout pin to reverse. Silver plate in very good condition, not worn through to the base metal.

This pattern worn circa 1953 until 1960, so worn for only a brief period of time.

5th RGR Royal Gurkha Rifles (Frontier Force) Blackened Brass Shoulder Title

As worn by all ranks of the Regiment between 1924 and 1950. One of a number of variations and patterns, this one matching 5GR F17F (see below). Circa 26mm tall and 21mm wide. Two original hexagonal fixing loops. Some minor bending from service wear but black finish in good condition.
