Most probably intended for use as the bullion ornament for embellishing a review order officer's dress pouch. Similar in design to that depicted in Ashok Nath's "Sowars and Sepoys in the Great War 1914-1918 for the Governor General's Body Guard (Fig 2). Removed from uniform, some paper stuck to reverse otherwise a fine pair of silk embroidered formation signs. Formed part of the BEF. Landed in Normandy on D Day 6th June and fought across France, Belgium and Southern Holland.
