In very poor condition, most probably excavated, but with shank intact. Circa 20.5mm in diameter. Hard to read but appears to be maker marked Jennens & Co, London. A gap filler until a better example comes along, if ever! This pattern worn circa 1830 to 1855. Scarce. Sold as seen.

This is a very high quality inlaid wooden vesta or match safe, to the front it has ‘P.O.W. Shrewsbury camp’ and to the back a lovely inlaid star shape.
