Victorian - Isle of Man Volunteers Other Ranks White Metal Glengarry Badge ( the 7th Volunteer Battalion King 's Liverpool Regiment )
A die struck white metal cap badge with two original dark toned loops to the reverse. The motto " Quocunque Jeceris Stabit " which is rather appropriate given the three legged device to the centre and translates as " whichever way you throw him he will stand ". A die struck white metal pouch badge with two original screw posts to the reverse. Good sharp detail and a strong stiff badge. A crowned ( Victorian ) garter inscribed with " Queen's ( Westr. ) Rifle Volrs " with the portcullis as their central badge device - the principal charge of the City if Westminster. Later the 13th Westminsters. Circa 6cm tall and in very good condition.

A very light and die struck issue with three original lugs to the reverse. Worn circa 1898 until 1906 only. It was then replaced by a different pattern in brass. Also worn as the Sergeants and Senior Sergeants Arm badge.

Georgian / Napoleonic Wiltshire Yeomanry Cavalry Officer's Silver Plated Open Backed Tunic Coatee Button
Circa 18.5mm in diameter, fixed shank, silver plate in superb condition with slight edge wear. Maker marked Mark Sanders & Co (based in Birmingham). Unit formed 30 June 1794. A reasonably large corps, with circa 30 officers in 1797.
Similar to the button in Ripley & Darmanin fig 227 but with the addition of Wiltshire below the Georgian crown.

Georgian Napoleonic Royal Regiment of Artillery Officer's Gilt Two Piece Construction Tunic Coatee Button
This button displays the Ordnance arms. Circa 20.5mm in diameter, it is slightly convex and of two part metal construction with original shank to reverse and a blow hole to reverse for heat expansion when the two parts were braised together. Circa 21mm in diameter, original fixed shank, maker marked Firmin & Sons London. A pewter other ranks button in superb condition for age. Worn circa 1833 - 1855.
The War Office issued a Circular Letter (H.O.51/33) dated Whitehall 30th April 1833, which fixed the Militia Battalion Order of Precedence giving the Shropshire Battalion the No 54. This order held good until 1855.<... read more

Circa 19mm in diameter, fixed shank (slightly twisted to one side), an attractive open-backed convex button, with an incised design. Maker marked Firmin & Westall, Strand (dates from 1794 - 1812 when Firmin & Westall were one company). In super condition for age. A real cracker. A pre 1813 as termed the Royal Sherwood Foresters Nottinghamshire Militia from that date onwards. Rare.
