A star of eight points, the topmost point displaced by a Victorian crown. On this a laurel wreath. Within the wreath a strap inscribed the garter motto Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense. A genuine example with lugs removed (they were north - south) and expertly attached permanently to a brass menu ring stand which has an upright ring for holding the menu card / place setting name card. Royal Berkshire Regiment - Without 'R Berks' below the dragon indicating a 1902-1920 issue mounted on a red/ maroon cord boss with two retaining wires still present. I think this has been mounted on the wrong coloured cord boss. According to K&K it should have been fitted to a khaki cord boss and worn with a red felt backing. Cap and back badge set, die struck and a different pattern of Sphinx design to the one listed as item 62345. Some small marks to the sphinx otherwise in good condition.

The regiment was formed in 1994 by the amalgamation of the Gloucestershire Regiment and the Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment (Berkshire and Wiltshire) and merged with others to form the Rifles in 2007.
